I'm the person who'd rather build a little tool than do the boring thing twice. These days I use AI to put together spreadsheets, websites and small systems, fast, and without needing to be a developer.
The tools I reach for
My everyday thinking partner for drafting copy, sketching ideas, writing spreadsheet formulas, and untangling problems out loud before I commit to anything.
My go-to for the bigger builds: websites, structured docs and longer pieces of work where I want something that reads well and actually holds together. (This site is a Claude build.)
For the agent-style jobs: handing off a multi-step task and letting it research, assemble and deliver while I steer. Great for putting whole systems together.
Mostly practical stuff that saves time. Google Sheets that track content, plans and numbers, with the formulas and structure worked out properly instead of cobbled together. Simple websites and landing pages (like this one). And little systems that connect the dots between the tools I already use day to day.
Start by describing the problem clearly and what a good result looks like. Half the battle is asking well.
Use the right tool for the job to draft, generate and assemble the first version quickly.
Test it, fix what's off, and tidy it into something that's actually usable, not just a demo.
I'm not a developer, and that's kind of the point. These tools let me turn an idea into a working thing in an afternoon, which means more of my projects actually get built. I like staying curious and picking up whatever helps me work smarter.
